PAR Method

The PAR® Method is a massage therapy technique I developed that promotes the restorative capabilities of the parasympathetic nervous system (PAR® stands for Parasympathetic & Adrenal Recovery).  When the body is deeply relaxed, the body can switch from "fight or flight" to "rest and digest", and becomes productive in its healing processes.  The adrenal glands, which release hormones that aid in reacting to stressors, can be replenished.


This method uses slow and repeating strokes, applied with moderate pressure.  The sequence is often the same or similar from session to session, which allows the brain to relax into the rhythm.  The goal is to create a nurturing environment in which the nervous system relax and release muscle pain and tension.


The PAR® Method is an effective tool for managing stress.  Chronic stress can have a severely negative impact on our physical and mental health.  This method provides relief by creating the space needed for healing to happen.
